EORI numbers are a component of the European Union’s system for registering and identifying economic operators. When submitting customs declarations, they are used to identify people and businesses throughout the EU. For import and export transactions as well as intracommunity transportation, each economic operator just requires one unique number that is then valid across the EU. It is also possible to import items from other EU nations into Germany before importing them into Austria if you have an Austrian EORI number. On the other hand, the numbers themselves are always nation-specific and reveal details about the nation where the EORI registration took place.
Purpose
In their interactions with the customs authorities, economic operators and other people are uniquely identified by this unique identity. It must be cited in all correspondence between the business operator or other people and the customs authorities (such as requests made during the customs procedure, customs declarations, appeals, etc.), including in the other Member States. In communication with other customs officials and other authorities, it is also employed.
Who needs it
It is required for any economic operator who transships goods across borders and submits customs declarations. Among others, these include Companies, Carriers, Sellers and resellers, and Private Individuals. Nevertheless, each of them just requires a single EORI number. Then, irrespective of the exterior or internal borders of the European Union, this number is utilized for all activities. Corporate offices and minor border crossings are the only two exceptions to this norm. It is only necessary to apply for an Austrian EORI number and obtain it when at least nine customs declarations are completed annually. Additionally, subsidiaries of global corporations are exempt from applying for it, they can use the one assigned to their headquarters

To participate in EU trade and economic operations, an Austrian company must submit an EORI application form to the customs office. When a request is made, an electronic or printed notification of EORI registration is sent. The Federal Ministry of Finance’s website also accepts online submissions for the application. The application forms in Austria can be filled out in either English or German, just like other registrations and submissions. In the application form are the details required for registration. Legal persons, such as the various Austrian company kinds, may make an application. During the application process, the applicant might need to present identification as proof of domicile.

The ISO code for Austria is AT. The next section is followed by a string of numbers, the length of which varies per nation. This Austrian number has fifteen digits.
Use of EORI in Austria
This identity is intended to quickly and readily identify economic operators who conduct business operations across the EU. As a result, information may be exchanged quickly, and customs procedures are streamlined. Any business that conducts customs-related business in Austria, such as importers or exporters, must register with Austrian customs to receive an EORI number. Foreign businesses in Austria with the number that are already registered in another EU nation will not be affected by this.
Exports to nations outside the EU
This identity is also necessary for exports from the EU to non-EU nations because they are needed to create the export supporting document. Economic operators do not require it for export under a value of EUR 1,000 or goods weighing less than 1,000 kg. Exports need to be up to these values for them to be required. Private individuals are not, in theory, required to export with the number to nations outside the EU.
Since 1/11/2009, EU importers and exporters have needed it. Economic Operators’ Registration and Identification (EORI) It’s an identification number for economic operators. EORI replaces customs numbers valid till 2009. Each EU trader gets one EORI number. The goal is to help EU customs control the movement of products. Companies and self-employed people importing items from a non-EU country into the EU must present their assigned number. Without this, only private individuals can verify customs on imports. The identity is also necessary for exporting from the EU to a non-EU country. Economic operators don’t need an EORI number for exports under EUR 1,000 or 1,000 kg, as the accompanying document simply needs to be set up for these quantities. Private exports don’t need it.
